Stick Chair Dining

A celebration of the unique forms that naturally occur when employing green woodworking techniques.

Splitting chair parts out of a green log and shaping them with a drawknife, is a method commonly used in making traditional Welsh stick chairs, and Irish creepie chairs.

Because this method forces the maker to follow the grain, the resulting shapes and forms are wonderfully characterful, and give each chair a unique soulfulness. The design and method of construction of this piece aim to capture that character and soul, while still feeling refined.
